The Secret Splendour

  Poems

Beyond, Within

I long for your soul but not your soul alone:

Stretched to your body forever are my hands—

For one small kiss I would squander Samarcands!

But each white curve building your limbs' soft glows

Is the strange smile of a hidden inner sun-—

You kiss a door to a love beyond our own....

And if your body were, all, the abyss time throws

So oft between would leave an infinite need.

My heart still laughs: by a clutch within we arc close:

Two flowers of fire from one Light's secret seed.
