The Secret Splendour

  Poems

'Twas day nor night:

In a borderland of hues,

Facing each other

We sat a-muse.

Wing-sails were gone—

Air-waves forgot to rush;

With bodies of twilight

And souls of hush

We sat in a dream,

Yearning to vanish and be

A single-hearted

 Eternity.

The swooning skies

Mingled our thoughts afar:

From the deep purple

 Broke one star.
