There are no conditions for receiving the influence of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother except faith, an entire sincerity in following the spiritual path and a will and capacity to open oneself to the influence; but this capacity usually comes as the result of sincerity and faith.

A being they loved whose bounds exceeded theirs;
Her measure they could not reach but bore her touch,
Answering with the flower's answer to the sun

L'inépuisable douceur de son cœur charmait leur cœur,

A friend and yet too great wholly to know,
She walked in their front towards a greater light,
Their leader and queen over their hearts and souls,
One close to their bosoms, yet divine and far.

Sri Aurobindo came upon earth to teach this truth to men. He told them that man is only a transitional being living in a mental consciousness, but with the possibility of acquiring a new consciousness, the Truth-consciousness, and capable of living a life perfectly harmonious, good and beautiful, happy and fully conscious . During the whole of his life upon earth, Sri Aurobindo gave all his time to establish in himself this consciousness he called supramental, and to help those gathered around him to realise it

The Mother

Sri Aurobindo est venu sur la terre pour enseigner cette vérité aux hommes. Il leur a dit qu'ils sont seulement des êtres de transition vivant dans une conscience mentale, mais possédant la possibilité d'acquérir une conscience nouvelle, la conscience de la Vérité, et capables de vivre une vie parfaitement harmonieuse, belle et bonne, heureuse et pleinement consciente. Pendant toute la durée de sa vie sur terre, Sri Aurobindo a passé son temps à établir en lui-même cette conscience, et à aider ceux qui se sont groupés autour de lui à réaliser cette conscience à laquelle il a donné le nom de Supramentale.

La Mère

Remember the Mother and, though physically far from her, try to feel her with you and act according to what your inner being tells you would be her Will. Then you will be best able to feel her presence and mine and carry our atmosphere around you as a protection and a zone of quietude and light accompanying you everywhere.

Souvenez-vous de la Mère et, bien que vous soyez physiquement loin d'elle, essayez de la sentir avec vous et d'agir selon ce que votre être intérieur vous dit que serait sa Volonté. Vous serez alors plus capable de sentir sa présence et la mienne et de conserver notre atmosphère autour de vous, telle une protection et une zone de tranquillité et de lumière vous accompagnant partout.

One must rely on the Divine and yet do some enabling sadhana - the Divine gives the fruits, not by the measure of the sadhana but by the measure of the soul and its aspiration. (I mean by the measure of the soul's sincerity a yearning after the Divine and its aspiration towards the higher life.) Also worrying does no good — "I shall be this, I shall be that, what shall I be?" Say "I am ready to be not what I want, but what the Divine wants me to be" — all the rest should go on that base.

On doit se reposer sur le Divin et pourtant faire une certaine sâdhanâ qui donne la capacité de recevoir : le Divin accorde le fruit non à la mesure de la sâdhanâ, mais à la mesure de la sincérité de l'âme et de son aspiration (par sincérité de l'âme, j'entends sa soif du Divin et son aspiration à la vie supérieure). Je voudrais aussi vous dire qu'il n'est pas bon de se faire du souci : «Je serai ceci, je serai cela, que serai-je? » Dites : « Je suis prêt a. être non ce que je veux, mais ce que le Divin veut que je sois; » tout le reste doit se faire sur cette base.

Sri Aurobindo is constantly among us and reveals himself to those who are ready to see and hear him.
