RIGVEDA SAMHITA : Mandala I

HYMN 106

Rishi: KUTSA Derty: VISHVEDEVAH

  1. We invoke Indra, Mitra, Varuna, Agni, the Maruthost and Aditi for our protection. Givers of dwelling, bountiful, rescue us from all sin, as a chariot from a defile.

  2. O Adityas, Gods, come ye such; aid us in the common effort; bring joy to us in battles with the foes. Givers of dwelling, bountiful, rescue us from all sin, as a chariot from a defile.

  3. May the fathers, praised easily, protect us. May the two divinities (Heaven and Earth) who have Gods for sons, increasers of Truth, protect us. Givers of dwelling, bountiful, rescue us from all sin, as a chariot from a defile.

  4. Kindling high the might of Narashamsa, I hymn. I solicit with felicitous words Pushan, destroyer of heroes. Givers of dwelling, bountiful, rescue us from all sin, as a chariot from a defile.

  5. Brihaspati, do thou always make accessible to us the felicity (of seekers of Gods). We solicit thy happiness established by Manu. Givers of dwelling, bountiful, rescue us from all sin, as a chariot from a defile.

  6. Thrown into a well, Kutsa called for succour Indra, slayer of Vritra, lord of Shachi61

  1. May Aditi with the Gods protect us. May the saviour God (Savitr) protect us without fail. And may Mitra, Varuna, Aditi, Ocean, Earth and Heaven grant this.
