Letter to The Mother on taking a Chartered Accountancy course

In 1958, I was appointed a teacher in the Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education. I started teaching one class of Mathematics at the Primary level. In 1958 Kireet Joshi was made the Registrar of SAICE. In the middle after speaking to the Mother he inducted me into his office. In the early 1960's SAICE started taking grants from the Central Government; these grants were both monetary and for buying equipment. I was asked to assist in maintaining the accounts of these grants. In 1965, Satinath Chatterjee who was the Charter Accountant of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram asked me to look after the Accounts of SAICE. It is interesting to that from mid 1965 to mid 1966, four of us - Pavitra who was the Director of SAICE, Kireet Joshi the Rigistrar, Satinath Chaterjee and myself used to meet every Friday to discuss the accounts and send a report to the Mother on the next day. Some time later Satinathda along with Amritada who was the Manager of the Ashram and in whose office the accounts were maintained asked me if I was ready to undergo a course on Chartered Accountancy by correspondence. Their intention was to make me the Chartered Accountant of the Ashram once I finished the course. As usual I referred to the Mother. I am attaching my letter with Mother's reply below.

This is what Mother wrote:

"I consider your work as professor in the school far more important than to become a Chartered Accountant. Blessings, Mother."
