Gayakawada : Karandikar: Learning that the Gaikwād of Baroda proposed to dispose of his property situated in the heart of the city of Pune, Tilak had started negotiations for the purchase of the property in 1904. The amount of Rs 15,400/-, which was ascertained as the market price of the property, was paid on 28th January 1905. Friends like Khaparde, who visited Poona in February to attend the marriage ceremony of one of Tilak’s daughters, were satisfied when they learnt that the Tilak family & Tilak’s papers would soon be shifted to this new place.
