Jenkins, Sir Lawrence : Lawrence Hugh (1858-1928): called to the bar 1883: Puisne Judge of Calcutta High Court 1896-9: Chief Justice of Bombay High Court 1899-1908: awarded Knight Commander of the Indian Empire 1903: Member, Viceroy’s Council 1908-9: Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court 1909-15, in which capacity, in a Special Bench with Justice Carnduff, he heard the appeal in the Alipore Bomb Case (1909) & gave judgment on 23 November 1909.
