ON a white horse a knight with knitted brows

Rode slowly down the leafy glades of Time :

" The Alchemy of Latmos and the sleeping spouse

Of Her, transmuting lovely to sublime....

Enskied Endymion who by sheer excess

Of mortal harmony outgrew his fears

Of finite's death and sadness—Enskied no less

Than that fair Queen in music-maddened spheres."
