Shadow-Subduing


WHO would live in the hut of twilight

Under the cliff of Dark, .

Or watch the veering from grey to white

And the first day-kindling spark ?


When the sky is rife with rumour of dawn

And the red wine is spilt in the East,

The night is a raiment that earth has outworn—

And stint is o'erladen and Truth is increased.
