Youngling Crescent

THE youngling crescent of the moon,

Joy's signature on Siva's brow,—'

All that the silences allow

From the spear swift hurling sound

When the midnight mirrors noon

And the shadow-cliffs resound,—

A slender gleam and silver arc

Of knowledge ' twixt the dark and dark,

A snake uncoiling from the ground

Unearthly body wisdom-bright,

Evoking from the eld of night

The frozen music of the moon.

Full Moon night, May 1933.
